Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
You are invited to reflect more deeply on Our Common Home—God’s Creation and the call we share to care for it. Rooted in the teachings of the Church and inspired by the vision of Pope Francis, this effort seeks to foster greater awareness, thoughtful dialogue, and faithful action in response to the needs of our world.
DescriptionLaudato Si’, On Care for Our Common Home, is the second encyclical of Pope Francis, released in 2015. In it, the Holy Father addresses the environmental challenges facing our world and invites all people to consider their relationship with creation. He builds upon the teachings of his predecessors, Pope John XXIII, Pope Paul VI, Pope John Paul II, and Pope Benedict XVI, as well as Sacred Scripture, Catholic social teaching, and the life and witness of Saint Francis of Assisi.
In Laudato Si’, Pope Francis calls attention to the human roots of the global environmental crisis, the impact on the poor and vulnerable, and the responsibility we bear for future generations. He invites us into ongoing dialogue, a conversion of heart, and meaningful, prayerful action for the sake of the common good.
The Season of CreationEach year, the Church observes the Season of Creation from September 1 through October 4, the feast day of Saint Francis of Assisi. During this time, Catholics around the world are encouraged to pray, reflect, and act in ways that honor and protect God’s creation. This season offers a special opportunity for our parish community to grow in awareness, deepen our faith, and respond together to this important call.
Mission and PurposeThe purpose of this initiative is to help our parish community grow in understanding of the Church’s teaching on care for creation and to inspire a spirit of stewardship rooted in faith. Through reflection, conversation, and shared commitment, we seek to cultivate a deeper appreciation for God’s gifts and to respond with responsibility, gratitude, and hope.
